A Spoonful of Sofrito: A pinch of advice that will add a lot of flavor to your life.

Where to Eat and Drink in Downtown Jersey City!

Sofrito Lovers,

Jersey City has become another hidden underrated food Mecca.  When I read the first paragraph of the Eater.com article below, I almost nodded my head off in agreement, the food scene in Jersey City has become fierce as fuck!

Renatos and The Archer (both mentioned in the article) are amazing places to eat!  If the other spots mentioned are as cool, then I'm going to get my ass to Jersey City as much as possible.  The growing diversity and quality of the cuisine is truly exciting; Jersey City is where it's at!

The article below lists 25 places for NYC foodies to explore!  Choose one and have an awesome time!  Check them out and go taste for yourself!  ¡Buen Provecho!

In the last five years, downtown Jersey City has exploded with diverse restaurants, helped along by lower costs and the rezoning of main drag Newark Avenue into a partially pedestrian-only street lined with restaurants and bars.

Here now, a guide to the best of them, including old-school Italian, James Beard-nominated pizza, Asian fusion from a celebrity chef, and several speakeasies.

A Spoonful of Sofrito: Museum of Food and Drink!

A Spoonful of Sofrito: A pinch of advice that will add a lot of flavor to your life.

MOFAD: Museum of Food and Drink!

Sofrito Lovers,

Did you know that there was a museum dedicated to food and drink?  Yeah, neither did I! How incredible is that?  A museum dedicated to the art, science, culture, history, and production of food and drink- this is so cool!

This weekend, while I was searching the 'net, I discovered MOFAD's website and it threw me for a loop!  How could there be a foodie museum and I know nothing about it?  I poured through the 'site and fell in love!

The calendar of events is chock full of workshops, lectures, cooking demonstrations, art exhibits, and a lot more.  If you're like me, a foodie and museum nut, then this place is heaven!  I can't wait to go to their next CHOW, their monthly snack and chat about Chinese food and restaurants.

Check out the museum's Mission statement below and their website for more information! Go SEE AND TASTE for yourself!  ¡Buen Provecho!

Freakin Rican Food Festivals!

Sofrito Lovers,

Spring time is food time!  If you're foodie festival hunter like me, then you know that Spring is that delicious time of the year when food festivals dominate the weekend streets.

If you're looking for some delicious Puerto Rican fare, then you have to dine al fresco with the Freakin Rican-check out their website!

Chef Derick Lopez and his amazing partner Victor Vargas are the CEOs of the Freakin Rican Restaurant (brick and mortar coming soon), catering company, online culinary shop, and extraordinary hosts of the Freakin Rican Cooking Channel on YouTube.  These two Boricua Top Chefs (WEPA, Boricuas!) are as talented as they are sweet and welcoming.

A Spoonful of Sofrito: New Yorkers Try LA Pizza!

A Spoonful of Sofrito: A pinch of advice that will add a lot of flavor to your life.

New Yorkers Try LA Pizza!

Sofrito Lovers,

The old Chicago vs. New York City pizza beef is taking a back seat to the new L.A. vs. New York City controversy!  Yes, folks, L.A. has thrown its hat into the Pizza championship arena and thefight has started.  Apparently, many foodies are saying that L.A. pizza has it all over New York City style.  I don't know about that!  L.A. style pizza is good, but these odd vegetable, nut, and seed combos seem more like bird feed then pizza, but that's just me!

I've tasted Chicago Deep Dish, Southern style Pizza, and L.A. pizza and I can assure you that nothing is better than NYC style. Am I biased?  Hell, yeah!  Can I be objective? Nope, not at all!

Check out the BuzzFeed video below as some NYCers taste some L.A. and NYC slices and give their opinions!  Who's got the best slices? Watch, laugh, and learn!

Go taste for yourself! ¡Buen Provecho!
