A Spoonful of Sofrito: Coffee and tea Festival NYC

A Spoonful of Sofrito: A pinch of advice that will add a lot of flavor to your life.

Coffee and tea Festival NYC

Sofrito Lovers,

Despite the fact that I hate coffee and tea, there is a Coffee and Tea Festival in Brooklyn at the end of the month that sounds super interesting.

Okay, I don't hate tea as much as I do coffee, but still all those hot beverages make my stomach feel weird and sometimes act as a laxative-sorry for the TMI!

Back to my point, I'm interested in this festival because of the various herbal teas, hot beverage products, and other merchandise they might have.  If you're a coffee or tea head then this festival is for you!  I hope to see you there!

Go taste for yourself!  ¡Buen Provecho!

A Spoon of Sofrito: My Big Fat Greek Baked Beans - Food Wishes!

A Spoon of Sofrito: A pinch of advice that will add a lot of flavor to your life.

My Big Fat Greek Baked Beans - Food Wishes!

 Sofrito Lovers,

Baked Beans.  Usually, the only way I can stomach those little canned and overly sweetened legumes is if they're smothered on a  frank with copious amounts of mustard and sauerkraut.  But, this FoodWishes Greek recipe for baked beans is actually kind of delicious and has definitely changed my mind!

Check out the post below and marvel, as I did, on how Baked Beans can look and taste so amazing.

Go taste for yourself!  ¡Buen provecho!

A Spoonful of Sofrito: Chinese food renaissance in the city right now!

A Spoonful of Sofrito: A pinch of advice that will add a lot of flavor to your life.

Chinese food renaissance in the city right now!

Sofrito Lovers,

Pay close attention: There is a Chinese food Renaissance taking place in New York City!

Cleanse your mental palette of the Panda Express and Beef with Broccoli bullshit you're used to and read the Eater.com article posted below.  The Chinese migrant explosion in NYC is bringing with it amazing cuisines, cooking styles, and flavor profiles most of us have never seen-I'm shook, shaken, and shocked!

There are amazing Chinese restaurants opening up in NYC, or that have been here but we never knew about them, that serve extraordinary unheard of (to us) regional Chinese food.

It's time to take a trip to Chinatown and blow these taste buds away!  I hope to see you down there with me!

Go taste for yourself! ¡Buen provecho!

How Influencers on WeChat Are Driving NYC’s Restaurant Scene
Bloggers on WeChat are the biggest source of Chinese restaurant reviews in

New York — even though they’re essentially ads

Some of New York’s most popular new Chinese restaurants have never appeared in an American publication. They don’t get ’grammed by Instagram influencers. Their owners don’t look at Yelp, and they often aren’t mentioned in the Michelin Guide. But they’re still flourishing, packed with primarily Chinese diners — and they have little interest in attracting people in the city who don’t speak Chinese.

These restaurants — often specializing in regional Chinese cuisines that are historically uncommon in NYC — target a growing Mandarin-speaking population through WeChat, the mighty Chinese social-media application that is a combination of Facebook, Instagram, Yelp, Venmo, and other big American apps and platforms.

A Spoonful of Sofrito: Easy And Impressive Chicken Dinners Anyone Can Make

A Spoonful of Sofrito: A pinch of advice that will add a lot of flavor to your life.

Easy And Impressive Chicken Dinners Anyone Can Make!

Sofrito Lovers,

I think it's fair to say that we all need to cook more during the week.  Many of us are weekend Top Chefs, but during the week we might rely on take out, take out leftovers, easy microwaveable meals, or cereal to cover the dinner quota. This is slowly, but surely killing us.  The fat, salt, and other harmful ingredients in all that food is putting us into our early graves!

We need to start cooking and preparing better food!  The folks at Tasty have produced an awesome new video with quick and easy chicken dinners we can easily prepare after a long day at work!

Yes, it might take more than the effort needed to call for take out or order through Seamless, but it's totally worth it!  Check out the post below! Your body will thank you for it!

Go taste for yourself!  ¡Buen Provecho!
