Harlem Restaurant Week!

Harlem Restaurant Week!

Sofrito Lovers,

I can't believe I haven't posted about this, but we are in the midst of Harlem Restaurant Week!

This amazing celebration of the international cuisines in Harlem (West, Central, and East) is truly extraordinary!  If you've never attended, then you must make some time to go and sample from the over 40 restaurants that are participating!

I'm going this weekend!  I hope to see you there!

Go taste for yourself!  ¡Buen Provecho!

Harlem Restaurant Week is one of the most essential celebrations of amazing local cuisine. Right outside of your doorstep awaits a flavorful fine dining experience without the hefty price tag. Whether you find yourself in the North, West, South or East section of Harlem, there is a delicious deal waiting for you.

Those of you who haven’t taken advantage of the experience might be anxious to hear that HRW is winding down and will officially conclude on September 1st. With limited time you’ll need the rundown on the absolutely can’t miss establishments. Being born and bred in East Harlem, I’m partial to the offerings between E 96th and 125th. A few of my favorite hot spots will take your taste buds on an international journey.

Nocciola Ristorante (237 E. 116th St) gets an A+ for food and A++ for ambiance. This Italian eatery knows how to combine beautifully presented five-star meals and white-glove service with a relaxed vibe. You’ll want to savor every bite and sip at this East Harlem staple.

East Harlem Bottling Co. (1711 Lexington Avenue) is a modern gem. This everyday lunch and dinner spot is perfect for catching up with friends over locally brewed beers. Whether you're in the mood for some comfort food or need something light while you enjoy the street view on a beautiful summer night, this is the place for you.

Amor Cubano (2018 Third Avenue) is an experience that will please all five senses. The live music, craft cocktails, and aromatic cuisine give customers a taste of an authentic Cuban dining experience.

Whatever you’re in the mood for, Harlem has it! But this is only a sliver of what East Harlem has to offer so check out as many locations as your stomach and wallet can take by September 1st and hopefully long after. Harlem Restaurant Week may come once annually, but these eateries are here all-year-round!

Check out the amazing video posted by "12 Labor Day Barbecue Party Ideas" from Twisted, one of my favorite YouTube channels with incredible recipes!

16 Dog-Friendly Restaurants and Bars to Bring a Pup!

These are the NYC dive bars, restaurants, and hip cafes that welcome pups by Alexandra Ilyashov Updated May 22, 2019, 2:32pm EDT

Dog-owning New Yorkers (as well as dog-loving folks that don’t have pets of their own) know just how tricky it can be to find bars that allow canines. Restaurants that will host canines are often even harder to track down, but, yes, they do exist.  For the most part, pet-friendly dining and drinking joints only allow dogs outdoors, be it at sidewalk tables or on backyard patios. Some on this list, however, let them inside, too, while others have special menus just for dogs.

Note: Be sure to call ahead and confirm that dogs are welcome before heading over to any of these places, as some dog-friendly spots sometimes won’t let pups in because of a scheduled health department visit.

Here are 16 enjoyable places around NYC that welcome dogs, whether for brunch or a casual round of drinks.
