A Spoonful of Sofrito: The Untold Truth Of The McRib!

A Spoonful of Sofrito: A pinch of advice that will add a lot of flavor to your life.

The Untold Truth Of The McRib!

Sofrito Lovers,

To my eternal shame, I love the McRib!  Yes, it's true, I, the enemy of all fast food, can't help but bend to the will of the McDonald's unending public relations campaign to make us all McRib aficionados!

Whenever this salt filled hyper-processed nightmare of a sandwich makes it back on the Mikey Dee's menu, I'm the first in line to dine.  Please don't think less of me!  I love the taste of Frankenstein pork sandwiches!

Check out the video below from Mashed and check out the interesting history of this much demanded, yet barely understood sandwich...God, help us all!  Go taste for yourself!  ¡Buen Provecho!

A Spoonful of Sofrito: A Dad and Daughter Take a Culinary Tour of Yankee Stadium!

A Spoonful of Sofrito: A pinch of advice that will add a lot of flavor to your life.

A Dad and Daughter Take a Culinary Tour of Yankee Stadium!

Sofrito Lovers,

When I was a kid, my father used to take me to Yankee Stadium to enjoy some father-son bonding, live baseball, and to eat!  Okay, that last part was more me than him!  All jokes aside, I loved the stadium fare!  The hot dogs, burgers, fries, beer, and pretzels were all lit-as the kids would say!  My mouth is salivating just writing about it.

I can remember my father being impressed at my appetite, which didn't make any sense to me because as a kid I used to forego the Happy Meals at McDonald's because I wanted Big Macs instead.  I've always had an adult appetite...and the body to match.

Reading the article below from Chowhound.com brought back a lot of happy memories of my Papi.  I never learned to like Baseball, but sharing a soda and a beer with my father while cheering for our hometown heroes was always wonderful.

Check out the article below and go taste for yourself! ¡Buen Provecho!

Beyond Cracker Jacks: A Dad and Daughter Take a Culinary Tour of Yankee Stadium

BY JESSICA GENTILE

Historically, no sport is associated with food as much as baseball. Hot dogsand peanuts are almost as integral to a game as bats and gloves. Cracker Jacks even get a lyrical shout out in seventh inning stretch anthem, “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.” And that song was written in 1908! Of course concession offerings have come a long way from plain frankfurters, and in recent years have reached the fanciest levels of haute cuisine. You can even buy trendy tuna poké balls at Dodger Stadium or sophisticated oysters at Fenway Park.

A Spoonful of Sofrito: Panda Express's Orange Chicken!

A Spoonful of Sofrito: A pinch of advice that will add a lot of flavor to your life.

Panda Express's Orange Chicken!

Sofrito Lovers,

As much as I detest fast food, I can't deny the popularity of Panda Express's signature Orange Chicken or how yummy it is.  Yes, I admit to tasting and enjoying the world famous Orange Chicken!  How could I not?  My partner is one of Panda Express's biggest fans.  David loves that damn Panda Bear more than he loves me, his BearBear!

The first time I tried Panda Express was in California, where it's more popular, while on vacation to see my in-laws.  David was dying to have lunch there and insisted I taste their signature Orange Chicken to see what I thought. He raved about it incessantly, there was no way I'd be leaving Cali without eating there once.

Despite the sticky texture and super sweet taste, I did enjoy it with the Chow Mein and steamed veggies.  It's not my favorite Panda protein, but I see the appeal.  It's reminiscent of General Tso's chicken, but with a tangier acidic flavor to it.

When I first saw the Tasty video below I knew I had to post it.  I'm sure many of you would love to learn how to make some Orange Chicken at home!  Check it out and try it out!  Go taste for yourself!  ¡Buen provecho!
