A Spoonful of Sofrito: 14 of the Top Sichuan (Chinese) Restaurants in NYC!

A Spoonful of Sofrito: A pinch of advice that will add a lot of flavor to your life.

14 of the Top Sichuan (Chinese) Restaurants in NYC!

Sofrito Lovers,

Who loves Chinese food?  I'm taking about real Chinese food, not Panda Express or the Tostones with chicken wings you get from the corner.  New York City has always had an amazing array of Chinese food, whether American Chinese or true Chinese fare.

According to the Eater.com below, we are in the midst of a Chinese (Sichuan in particular) renaissance and it would behoove us all to take advantage!  A lot of these amazing eateries are in Flushing, Queens so back your bags and let's ride the 7 train to an incredible meal!

I'm down, I hope to see you there!

Go taste for yourself!  ¡Buen Provecho!

New York’s undergoing a Sichuan renaissance. Here are some of the best places to try

by Robert Sietsema and Serena Dai Updated Feb 25, 2019, 10:44am EST

Sichuan food’s introduction to New York City in the ’60s and ’70s was rather pallid, because Sichuan peppercorns were then technically illegal — the Department of Agriculture finally approved them in 2005 — and chile-heavy food hadn’t really caught on yet, either. Early Sichuan restaurants featured dishes like baby shrimp in a sweet and slightly spicy red sauce, and cold noodles dressed with sesame paste and peanut butter. Now, Sichuan is the foremost of the regional cuisines that can now be found all over the five boroughs, while many of its highlights have been incorporated into the menus of neighborhood Cantonese-American carryouts.

Here are some of Eater’s favorite Sichuan restaurants — and yes, Philadelphia import Han Dynasty and the once-mighty Grand Sichuan chain are notably not included.

A Spoonful of Sofrito: How to Make the Food You See in ‘Game of Thrones’!

A Spoonful of Sofrito: A pinch of advice that will add a lot of flavor to your life.

How to Make the Food You See in ‘Game of Thrones’

Sofrito Lovers,

In celebration of the 8th season premiere of Game of Thrones, the folks at Chowhound have written an article on the amazing food on the show.

To be honest, I joined the Game of Thrones fan club super late (I'm still catching up on Netflix) and pretty much adore the show.  One of the most fascinating aspects of the show is the food they feature!  By far, it's not a food show, but meal time is where a lot of the drama takes place and the food featured looks yummy AF!

Check out the article and video posted on the Chowhound site about the incredible food of Westeros!

How to Make the Food You See in ‘Game of Thrones’

Winter may have arrived in Westeros, but that’s not going to stop our favorite “Game of Thrones” characters from indulging in their favorite sweets, meats, and goblets upon goblets of various boozes. (Or at least that’s what we assume. Not even a White Walker seems like it’d stand in the way of a Lannister, Stark, or Targaryen and his or her meal.)
