A Spoonful of Sofrito: A pinch of advice that will add a lot of flavor to your life.

‘Golden Girls’-Themed Cafe Teases Opening with Photos of Sassy Decor Galore!

Sofrito Lovers,

A few months ago, I wrote a post about Rue La Rue, a new cafe opening in Washington Heights, dedicated to the memory of departed actress Rue McClanahan and her famous TV show The Golden Girls.  Eater.com has finally caught up with me-I scooped them-and posted an article on the upcoming debut of Rue La Rue and the amazing memorabilia within.

I'm predicting that this cafe is going to be a hit!  GG fans will be lining up in droves to get inside to see Rue's amazing collection of art and show memorabilia!  After trying their incredible vegetarian lasagna, I think the food is going to be a hit as well!

The article below features the evolution of the decor and contains some awesome tidbits about Rue and the showIf you're a GG fan, this cafe/museum is the place for you!  Check out the post below and enjoy!

Once this gorgeous space open, PLEASE go taste for yourself!  ¡Buen Provecho!

Rue La Rue Cafe has photos, costumes, and even an Emmy

The new Washington Heights cafe themed around saucy septuagenarian show, Golden Girls is inching closer to opening its memorabilia-packed doors. Rue La Rue Cafe, to debut at 4396 Broadway, has been advertising to hire staff and posting photos of a nearly-finished interior, where the walls are plastered with tons and tons of pictures of the show’s titular ladies. Owner Michael LaRue was a close friend of late actress Rue McClanahan, who played Blanche Devereaux, and the cafe’s decor is reportedly decorated with memorabilia that he inherited. According to photos teased on the Facebook, he’s not kidding around. Earlier this week, the team posted this before and after:

A Spoonful of Sofrito: 11 Food Trends that Need to Die in 2017!

A Spoonful of Sofrito: A pinch of advice that will add a lot of flavor to your life.

11 Food Trends that Need to Die in 2017!

Sofrito Lovers,

Like any other culture, food culture has trends, whether it's tie dying your bagels to making everything out of cauliflower, we foodies come up with the coolest, and eventually lamest, little trends to make our dining experiences special.

When I saw the article posted below, I was instantly intrigued and couldn't wait to read it.  I thought some of the food trends in 2016 were cool!  I liked the idea of zoodles and rainbow food, but after reading Darcy Lenz's article, I think she has a good point about some of the corniness of the top food trends in 2016.

Check out the article below and see how you feel about these trends.  Should cooking chicken in a waffle iron or making weird quesadilla/cookie hybrids come to an end?  Who knows?  You decide for yourself!  Read and then go taste for yourself!  ¡Buen Provecho!

11 Food Trends that Need to Die in 2017

Confession: I’m a little late with publishing this list. Conventional wisdom says I should have done so at least week ago, but here we are. I don’t usually care to write an article that’s already been written (and this one has), but in this case, even if only for selfish cathartic reasons, I was compelled to do so. Because most of the 11 items listed below have already shown up, in some form or another, on various other trends lists recently. I'm not referring to other lists comprised of trends that should meet their inglorious demise, but lists of projected trends for 2017. As in, the trends I'm saying I want dead... those very same trends are ones that someone else "predicted" will come to life this year.

A Spoonful of Sofrito: MEATBALL DOG TREATS

A Spoonful of Sofrito: A pinch of advice that will add a lot flavor to your life.

MEATBALL DOG TREATS!

Sofrito Lovers,

Our pets are part of our families and we want them to enjoy delicious and nutritious treats just like we do.   I'm a big fan of Gone to the Snow Dogs, a fun YouTube channel dedicated to a family of Snow Dogs, which features dog treat tutorials, dog food recipes, and other related content.  I wish I had a Snow Dog, I think they're gorgeous and incredible intelligent, but they're expensive to buy and maintain, so I live vicariously through the channel.

Last month, I saw this cool tutorial on making Thanksgiving Meatball treats for your dog and I thought it was cool, but forgot to post it.  The recipe is easy to follow and nutritious; the snow dogs loved them.  I'm sure you furry babies will love them as well.

Watch, cook, and let the dogs taste for themselves.  Tell your doggies I said, "Buen Provecho!"
