No doubt the West Village is one of the city's loveliest neighborhoods, composed of stately brownstones dating from the 1840s through the 1880s, trim storefronts, a country church with a flower garden, and reclaimed port and industrial architecture turned into lofts, galleries, and coffee shops. Two centuries ago it was a remote farming village that became a refuge for city dwellers fleeing cholera. But gaze at it now! Hordes descend every weekend to see Carrie's townhouse from Sex in the City and the homes of authors like Sinclair Lewis, Willa Cather, and James Baldwin. Crowds of people visit its many bars and restaurants, some distinguished, others not so much.

A Spoonful of Sofrito: A pinch of advice that will add a lot of flavor to your life.

The Best Desserts in NYC for $3 and Under!

Sofrito Lovers,

I love dessert!  As a Diabetic, my dessert options are limited and restricted, but that sweet tooth wants what it wants and at times I must yield to it.

When I do, I look for places in our amazing metropolis that serve delicious and inexpensive desserts.  Who wants to break the bank just to get their sweet on, you know?  Especially, when NYC has an amazing array of cafes, restaurants, eateries, and bakeries that are incredible and easy on the wallet!  You just have to know where to go!

Check out the post below, from Seriouseats.org, and find yourself a great little cheap dessert place now!

Go taste for yourself! ¡Buen provecho!

The Best Desserts in NYC for $3 and Under

In a city where a single cupcake can set you back five dollars, it's more important than ever to remember a basic point: Dessert doesn't have to be expensive to be good.

Not to knock the work of talented pastry chefs in New York, but for our everyday sugar rush, we're looking for something less glitzy; two or three bucks would be nice. And these days it's amazing what you can get on the cheap. This list below includes some staple cheap eats, but also touches on sweets from high-end bakeries that usually charge much more. Want the fine French pastry for cheaper than a croissant, or an easy snack from a vaunted Daniel Boulud spot? These budget sweets are excellent introductions to the more pricey items at the city's most renowned bakeries.
