A Spoonful of Sofrito: Mini-Review: Tung Thong Thai

A Spoonful of Sofrito: A pinch of advice that will add a lot of flavor to your life.

Mini-Review: Tung Thong Thai

Sofrito Lovers,

Do I have a scoop for you!  If you like, love, or are interested in Thai food, then make your way to Tung Thong Thai in Washington Heights!

Tung Thong Thai is a small mom'n'pop establishment with delicious Thai fare at reasonable prices. The orange brick walls, wooden tables, and narrow space aren't the most aesthetically pleasing, but who cares?  The food is why you should make this trip to the Heights.  Check out their menu here!

The Yellow Curry-prepared with carrots, potatoes, and onions-is creamy, a bit spicy, and loaded with that subtitle, yet incredible, coconut flavor.  The dish is served with  with your choice of chicken, beef, or shrimp!  I suggest the chicken, it was incredible!

The Pineapple Fried Rice, also served with your choice of chicken, beef, or shrimp,  is packed with yummy curry goodness-once again, simplicity can be delicious!  Who knew this neat little mound of rice could be so satisfying and incredible?

Last, but certainly not least, is the seminal dish of all Thai restaurants: Pad Thai!  Tung Thong Thai's Pad Thai is a delectable combination of veggies, bean sprouts, stir fired noodles, and whichever protein you choose.  Quick tip:  If a Thai place has delicious Pad Thai, then you know the rest of the menu will be good!

Not to be too repetitive, but you have to try the food at Tung Thong Thai, it's one of Washington Heights' best kept secrets! I'm sure you'll love it, but don't take my word for it, go and taste for yourself!  ¡Buen provecho!
